Very pretty, and certainly does bring a sense of sad nostalgia to it...but with that tiny bit of hope.

Well done. :) I don't hear any mistakes, and despite that, even if the song does have them, this was definitely done from the heart and you can sense that throughout.

Short, sweet, but something to keep in memory. ♥

Very pretty, and very spacey. ♥ Reminds me of something I'd hear from a Kirby game, or perhaps A Hat in Time. It does have a lot of variation for a loop.

If your other songs are like this, I think I'm going to enjoy going through them in my spare time. :D

Troisnyx responds:

I have a number of songs like this, admittedly (I overuse Sytrus and Flex for this purpose). It seems to be my go-to sound. Thanks for listening, and I look forward to seeing what you say about other tracks. 👀

A beautiful piece in-and-of itself in Super Metroid, period, you do it a proud justice in this slight rendition.

I've given deeper comments on OCR, but you do have a knack for ambient, albeit experimental songs. I enjoyed this, and as a fan of the original song, would listen to this just to lay down and have a think to. :D

5 stars.

Ooo, I like this, the heavy drumline and bass. ♥ Drum n' Bass has a special place in my heart, especially in grunge, synthwave and heavy metal.

That said this reminds me of some early Rareware / Konami tunes and PS1-era games. I can see this being used in action-oriented games, for a pause or menu screen like the old days, or a 'stage select' screen. Definitely a good bass-line someone could work more instrument tracks into, but I doubt it needs subtraction as it stands. Good job. :) 4 stars.

HoboKa responds:

Sweet, glad you dig it. That is some good insight. Appreciate the feedback!~

Kind of reminds me of a mix between Stone Tower Temple from Majora's Mask and the Forest Temple from OoT. It gives me a vibe from many an RPG / action-adventure game I've played over my lifetime, and it's real good.

Arps are sweet. :D Love me some arps and synth. ♥ Can never go wrong with em. The violin solo in the middle sounded very bittersweet as well, as you'd expect, and sounded like something from Xenogears / Xenosaga or Final Fantasy. Well done!

Man...this is the kind of shit I'd expect if they made a live-action movie or anime based on Super Metroid (my favorite of the series).

Gave me goosebumps in all the right ways.

4.8 (if I could) / 5 for me, and only one reason it's not 5: I was sad cause no baby metroid sound. :( But this is truly awesome, and leans Metroid more to its Alien-franchise roots (where the concept of Metroid came from.) It can tell it's hard to pull off what's already scary to an even higher decimal of scary, but I feel like you did it here. ♥ I look forward to listening to more from you.

xD IDK what to say to this other than:

1) My god the shitposting potential, and;

2) I was half-expecting 'GOTTA GO FAST' somewhere up in there, but the sounds of like old school Robotnik from like the old Saturday morning cartoon was enough for me.

4.5 stars, if nothing else, because of the chuckle I got out of it...and the fact that yes, I hate the song, but mostly because I hate the levels. >_>; And hearing that song so many times after so many deaths to the point I am pretty sure I muted my TV cause I got sick of it.

HoboKa responds:

Don;'t blame you, this was my non-friend's favorite game. So spoofing it was sort of like exorcising some demons for me. Yeah, that stage pissed me off too.

Ah yes, Spooky Castle, man... DK64 had some good beats and was a good time to be had when I was younger....

Been awhile since I listened to the DK64 OST, but as soon as I heard this song, I instantly recognized it, and it flooded back to me a lot of fond memories of playing it with my parents and us having a blast. ♥ Love the spooky sounds. Love the ambience. It flows well. It is the song. Grant would be proud.

10/10 from me. Keep up the good work. :D

Very funky and spooky. :0

My only little niggle is two-fold:

1) Bass beat is a bit too heavy (and coming from me, someone who loves bass, that's a lot to say. xD) In some spots it worked, like the beginning and the end, but it kind of felt like the middle section needed a bit less of that and more melody / treble tunes.

2) It's too short. A great start, but I just felt like the mid-section, again, needed more variation before the end.

Outside of that, I love DuckTales, and this was a really good remix keen to the source material. Love the vocals too. Reminds me of whenever I play old school NES games and randomly start doing that or humming to the tune. xD Mostly cause 8 / 16-bit sounds tend to be catchy. ♥

Ooo...loved the little tinkling bells throughout. ...Reminds me of A Nightmare Before Christmas! Real good job here. ♥ Has that lil Tim Burton movie / Danny Elfman vibe to it! Spooky, but in a cute, fun, light-hearted way. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you so much!
