Hilariously enough, the piece you based your song on was one of my original thoughts to use for my AIM 2022 song! XD Besides that, yeah this crushes hard...actually was quite unexpected given the source used for its inspiration, but my guess is it kinda invoked that end scene from the game Faith (if you played it) where the protagonist priest is driving away from the house...some real horror / spooky-feel. I think the only drawback (for me anyways) was just that your song is so dissonant from (at least) my interpretation of the artwork, but we all have our own interpretation of artworks, and it fits your description of how you viewed it. :)

Good luck with AIM 2022! Have a good one. :D

CryNN responds:

I havent played Faith but yeah! I almost though of someone driving as if they were in a rush. But a spontaneous one. Never thought of a chase or something like that. More like a need for speed, adrenaline or something.

Glad you liked it! Thx for the review

Oooooooo...this is giving me spine-tingles, and lighting my love of NES sounds and old-school RPGs (Final Fantasy, Crystalis, Legacy of the Wizard, etc.) It's real lovely, and flows so smoothly (like the art it's based from!) My only drawback is that it's quite loud, and could've been pulled back just a hair or two, but otherwise, this is stellar and so nostalgic to listen to. I'm envious and wish I had this kind of talent with 8-bit soundtracks. And this is your first time?! Pfft...I'm a bit blown-away TBH, and not over-exaggerating there...

Good luck in AIM 2022! I look forward to hearing more stuff like this from you! :D

Arginnon responds:

Wow, thank you very much! This has to be one of the nicest comments I've ever recieved (if not the nicest). I'm so happy that you liked my music and I also really appreciate the feedback. In retrospect it IS very loud, something I hadn't realized when I first exported the track. So that's something to pay attention to next time!

And again, thank you! You made my day with this comment.

Hmm, I do agree that's its weird, but it fits both the aesthetic you were going for and the artpiece it was inspired by. Palms and birds and chillaxing...perhaps by the beaches of Miami-Dade...perhaps somewhere in sunny Cali. What caught me were your beats. Solid, trippy, and fun. It...*sounds* pixelated--if that makes any lick of sense, haha. Defo a groove worthy of a chill and relaxing pixel game. It's cool, and it's got me jammin', so that's a thumbs up in my book! :D

Good luck in AIM 2022! Have a chill day. <3

Catchy, cute, and it encapsulates the art it's inspired from almost to a T. Absolutely loved this, especially the vocaloid vox and piano / chords! The bells were a real treat @ the 2:11 or so mark, and it--for some reason--really reminded me of the blissful days of playing my N64 as a child, and games like Snowboard Kids (the song has a real 'Big Snowman' vibe). And even the artwork reminds me of Snowboard Kids a lil'...but I digress. This song is real imaginative and magical-in-feeling, and I hope you enjoyed creating it as much as we enjoyed hearing it.

Good luck in AIM 2022! Good fortune, and have a great day. :D

LordAndiso responds:

:DD i took a listen to the big snowman and it sure does give the vibe :O But yeah, i had a blast making this song! Thank you so much for listening :33

Between your art inspiration and this song, it's giving me major Judge Dredd vibes...and I love it. :D Bit loud and bombastic in some parts, but its a chonky boi reminiscent of the art that invoked it, so I can't complain! Would be sick to hear this in some cybercity-based RPG or turn-based strategy game.

Good luck in AIM 2022! Godspeed, and it was a real treat listening to this song! :3

ChordsInMotion responds:

Thank you for the awesome review! :)

I agree, some parts were indeed a bit loud, but I'm glad you enjoyed it nonetheless! GL with your entry as well! B)

Like the days before winter comes upon us, this piece is so subtle and sneaks up on you with its wistful, whispered approach. I wasn't ready for when the music kicked in, nor was I ready for how peaceful and pretty it is. From the bells to the synth, it's gorgeous and fits well with the conceptual art you picked as its inspiration. :) It reminds me of Stardew Valley's OST...really nice. ^_^

Wish you luck in AIM 2022! Good fortune, and it was a privilege to listen to your song. :D

Gods, always love a good rendition of a Daft Punk classic. ♥ Now all you need is like 8 or 16-bit versions of the two of them jamming like hell, in a spaceship, or in the Tron game. :D

Was truly grooving to this, and it's sad they broke up after such a long and illustrious career, but it's things like what you've done here which will always light a candle in tribute to their amazing work.

Great job. :) Looking forward to hearing more! o/

MaldivirDragonwitch responds:

Hey, you find me an animator that will do an 8-bit animation loop of them and I'll provide a looped version of this for the BGM. :D
I've been a fan of Daft Punk for years and I've been pondering how to express my love for this song in particular and it just clicked a few days ago. :)
Thank you for your comment, so glad you liked it! <3

Hey there. :)

Man, I can really tell you put a ton of thought and effort into this piece (as all your compositions seem to be, in the end.) Even with the spooky stuff there's things in there to jog one's brain listening to it. The tense, jagged strings and atmospheric sounds at the beginning appropriately built-up the anticipatory nature of the song till we get to the good stuff. Makes me think more of Suspense-Horror classics like movies by Alfred Hitchcock or very Macabre Horror, like from Edgar Allen Poe... I swear one of his poems would fit perfectly with this song, (Masque of the Red Death or Pit and the Pendulum come to mind.) :D Also, love the distorted demon voice towards the end. o.o!

Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of more abstract / atonal music, but I can appreciate it and the orchestral finesse you give the song and bring to any musical table. It is a bit of a gamble with the song's length, but because you effectively and constantly have one on edge and is building to something, non-stop, throughout the song, I don't think it'll be a detractor in the end. Obviously isn't, cause a lot of people are liking what you do... ^_^

Keep at it. I look forward to hearing more of your stuff, and good luck in NGADM!

Hey there! :)

I really like this. The slowed section @ 2:00 gave me goosebumps--in a good way--and was my favourite part, TBH. :D The whole piece reminds me of really mid-90s Pop-Punk Rock...like the good songs from bands like Blink-182, Smash Mouth and The Offspring. Really does have that Californian skater punk flavour to it, too. It's great stuff. :3

I wish you all the luck in the Final Round of NGADM as well, and thanks for the vote of confidence and comments on my song, too!

MaldivirDragonwitch responds:

Thank you for your kind comment, so glad you like it!
Your song is great, it was a joy to hear! :)

Hey there.

This is pretty hype. :) Lovely synths, nice bopping beat and wonderful lyrics / vocal work. You have a great voice--I meant to mention that in some of your previous works submitted to the competitions. Guitar is a bit rough, but the texture it gives the song and the overall minimalist approach with instrumentation befits its tone and the lyrical theme. You do great work, and I respect your hustle, so...keep it up and good luck in the NGADM Finals. ^_^

GameBoyFireworks responds:

Thank you!!
